Community is Critical for Longevity
Finding true community isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a cornerstone of human longevity. Research from the world’s "Blue Zones"—regions where people consistently live past 100—shows that deep, regular social connection plays as vital a role in health and lifespan as diet or exercise.
A vibrant community is built on shared purpose, consistency, and a safe space to connect authentically. In my own life, I draw energy from a mosaic of different circles: from professional women's networking groups to games groups centered around Mahjong and Bunco, to active sports communities on the pickleball court. As a founder who works primarily from home, I thrive when I feel connected to others in my communities.
Each group serves a unique purpose, but together they fuel a profound sense of belonging. Surrounding ourselves with supportive networks keeps us grounded, builds mental resilience, and actively fights off depression and isolation - even if you’re an introvert. Investing in community isn't just about filling a calendar—it’s about nurturing the relationships that sustain our minds, bodies, and spirits.
